Superstition and Soul

To me, I think of this word in the most literal sense. That is, Superstition by Stevie Wonder AKA a most wonderful song on the most incredible album.

I'd gone to visit my college housemate when I was in Washington DC, and come to find out that he'd been struggling adjusting to his job & his work.

It's funny how so much goes unsaid between people who used to live so close together because upon sitting along the river that evening accompanied by the most gorgeous sunset, I learned about his life growing up in a refugee camp and he learned about mine in a Bay Area public school.

We meandered through the warm DC night and happened upon a bar with live music - I always make my stops here.

And the hardest part for me is choosing a song - we rifled through a few options before choosing Superstition. But something about it felt, superstitious.

Because in those 7 minutes (it's a really long song), I don't remember being scared for a single second, but looking back the prospect of it sounds terrifying.
